BookStore™ - Information Management

THE WORKSHOP:

This simulation is about Information Management (BISL). The team has to design information management processes in such a way that they are able to support and enable the business strategy. In this simulation, participants play employees of the company BookStore™. This company sells books and has 150 outlets in the country. The Management team has an ambitious growth plan. In the course of the game, BookStore™, will introduce new products and services aimed at creating growth and attracting new customers. BookStore™ intends to make use of Social and Mobile technology to appeal to a new set of consumers and consumer needs. Participants of this simulation will manage sources of information and applications. They will learn to recognize what the information needs of the business are.

  • How to organize and perform Information Management roles and processes.
  • How to Align with your Business to make sure that you implement your IT Services in a timely and reliable way.
  • How to Align with your IT to make sure they build and deploy Services that realize value and enable the Business strategy.
  • How to develop a continual improvement cycle in your team
  • How to manage IT costs and budgets
  • How to minimize complexity in your Infrastructure in order to improve decision making cycles

    TARGET AUDIENCE:

    Information Management 

    • To learn about Information management roles and responsibilities.
    • How to effectively communicate with the Customer in relation to information needs.
    • How to ensure Information needs are translated into IT Services that enable strategy realization.

    IT departments

    • To help identify and learn what Information management is about. 
    • To identify how ITSM processes have to be aligned to information management processes.
    • To help align IT services, communication and decision making to  business processes.
    • To help improve communication with the business.

    Customers/Users/Business

    • To help improve the communication between the Business and IT.
    • To help identify and understand the roles and responsibilities for effective Information management.
    • To help understand how (information) processes need to be formalized within the business environment


    BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE WORKSHOP:

    The team will act as both the IT management and the Business of BookStore. The team of participants will have to implement the right processes, decision making and communication structures required to realize their Business strategy. The participants will be confronted with a number of realistic events: 

    1. Changing commercial environment of the company (changing customer behavior) 

    2. New services with new information requirements are introduced by the business 

    3. New opportunities arise through advances in technology 

    4. Changes in functionality will have an effect on existing services 

    5. Incidents and requests for user support and the service desk 

    6. Supplier information about the end of support of specific applications

    The program is 1 full day from 9.00 – 17.00.
