IT Service Management seminar

GamingWorks will be delivering a plenary presentation and a workshop at the dansk.it IT Service management seminar in Denmark 12 March 2013, before heading off to Oslo for the annual itSMF congress in Norway. Both sessions at the Danish event will focus on the ABC of ICT, as the ‘people’ aspect of ITSM is becoming increasingly important for ITSM success.

Key note: 10 years of worst practice

Paul Wilkinson, Director, GamingWorks

IT organizations have been struggling more than 10 years to adopt best practice frameworks such as ITIL in an effort to bring IT under control. However we have generally failed to realize the promised benefits of ITIL. There is nothing wrong with ITIL. It is the way in which we (mis) apply it and the way in which we (mis) manage IT. IT is becoming increasingly important, we can no longer afford to fail to bring IT under control using best practices such as ITIL. In this presentation Paul Wilkinson will be looking back at some real examples of the ‘Attitude, Behaviour and Culture’ that underpin our poor performance, looking back at 10 years of worst practice.

Workshop: ABC of ICT
v/ Paul Wilkinson, Director, GamingWorks

ABC issues are preventing many IT organizations from realizing the benefits of ITSM improvement projects. Frameworks alone, such as ITIL, ISO, CobiT are not enough. In this interactive session a number of small teams will be given exercises to perform using the ABC of ICT worst practice card set. This set contains 57 industry recognized worst practices and is an awareness and assessment instrument. It is designed to stimulate dialogue and discussion. The aim is to identify the most common ABC worst practices and to discuss the consequences, impact and risk to YOUR organization.

In the ABC of ICT workshop we will compare the captured ABC worst practice in Denmark with the global worst practices so far as republished by Forrester by Stephan Mann in his blog ‘The TOP 10 people issues‘.  Those of you wishing to try to solve the ABC issues can refer to the follow up to this original blog ‘The TOP 10 People SUCCESS FACTORS
